There is Belize Snorkeling and then there is BELIZE SNORKELING. You can snorkel and see lots of fish or swim with the manta rays and nurse sharks similar to Caymans. That is right offshore of the two main tourist islands, the hippy era Caye Caulker and the more upscale Ambergris Caye. However, for serious healthy coral and variety of fish (but smaller numbers), you will have to take a snorkel boat 20 miles offshore . These photos are of both locations. We have snorkeled in a lot of places and Belize is one of our favorites. The Red Mangrove lecture provided by guide Andrew was incredibly educational. These photos were taken with a dedicated underwater digital camera with flash. It cost about $200 and as you can see it too “pretty good” pictures. They still required a lot of photoshop work to get the blue out. We hope you enjoy them and get inspired to do a Belize trip of your own
